Hameedah Marvis Akande is a bag maker. She started a brand that produces a variety of quality bag packs, lunch bags, stationary case and school homework bag for kids with emphasis of durability and multi-functionality. “We started with the aim of meeting up with international standard in our production.”
The major challenge they have faced is relocation. “We had always been in Lagos, until 7 months ago when we relocated, so obtaining materials and accessories at will, has recently been a barrier.”
She got her inspiration on the essence of imported bags. “Why must we always adopt importation, why can’t we also make here in Nigeria, bags with quality, classy looks coupled with perfect finishing, and at an affordable rate?”
The project that made her believe in herself was when she made a lunch bag of international standard.
Now, she is open to “investments which will automatically lead to expansion, so that we can produce large quantity into our markets and at long run we can also export to other African countries.”
“Youth empowerment is a brilliant idea”, she believes. “As we all know, bag making programmes are avenues for youths to be empowered.”
