Your job, that once was a promising opportunity to climbing the corporate ladder, now seems like a toxic relationship you’re contemplating escaping from. If you’re not sure whether or not to end things, these signs are a sure reason to consider a career change.

You’re yelled at, singled out and isolated from meetings

This may seem obvious to most people, but there are still those that will put up with harassment because they are afraid to speak up. If you are being harassed at work or feel scared and uncomfortable when at work you should find a way to leave as soon as possible.

You watch time pass from 10:01… 10:09… 10:15

Not all of us are lucky enough to love our jobs so much we can’t wait to get to the office in the morning. If you have reached the point of no return from your misery, a change is needed, perhaps even a career rethink. Being miserable all the time can lead to depression and other medical issues that in the long run, are not worth your salary.

Your relationship with your boss is irreconcilable

If your emotionally abusive boss is affecting your confidence so much that you’re too scared to say anything, it’s time to call it quits. Your boss is likely to have a large impact on the direction your career takes. If you find yourself at odds with your boss all the time, looking for something that satisfies your short- and long-term goals might be what you need.

You’re striking out on your own

Deciding to leave your job to go into business for yourself can be the scariest yet most exciting reason there is. Being your own boss can be very rewarding and profitable, but also lacks the security of a steady paycheck. Before you strike it on your own make sure you are prepared financially and have a viable business plan in place.
