Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has reportedly completed a medical to Everton on a free transfer, as part of the Romelu Lukaku deal.
The Merseyside club where Rooney broke into the first team as a 16-year-old have wanted him back for some time now, and look set to sign him now as a 31-year-old.
Rooney left Everton in 2004 on a £20m move to Old Trafford and has gone on to become the club’s leading goalscorer and arguably the biggest legend in recent club history.
Rooney struggled for playing time under mourinho last season and has been used in various positions under two previous managers.
At Goodison Park, Rooney is expected to be a first team player as Ronald Koeman has been a big admirer of his playing style.
Rooney will remain one of the Manchester club’s greatest ever players, having scored 251 goals in over 500 games.
