Renike, whose full name is Morenike Opeyemi Olusanya, is a 23 year old visual artist, who loves to paint and draw as well as do graphic design.
Talking about her art and how she started, she has this to say, “I can’t really say when exactly I discovered my talent in art. I know it was sometime in my teenage years, in secondary school, but I never really took it seriously per se until when I got into the university. We were very few studying Visual Arts and I was blown away by their talents. It was at that point that I started to take my talent seriously. The plan wasn’t to study Visual Arts, the plan was to study Interior Decoration. After unsuccessfully searching for universities in Nigeria that offered Interior Decoration as a Bachelor’s Degree course, I decided to settle for Creative Arts; Visual Arts. I will say that’s one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. Right now, I’m trying to explore as many art styles, mediums and possibilities as possible. My art journey has been really interesting and I really cannot wait to see where this wonderful talent of mine leads me.”
Her art is inspired by Africanism, emotions, books, other artists and her surroundings.
Apart from her art, she is interested in culture, tourism, photography and dance.
