The Gunner now face a daunting task to qualify for the round of 16, after being demolished by German giants Bayern Munich at the Allianz arena. Goals from Lewandowski, David Alaba, Arjen Robben and a brace from Thomas Muller were enough to send the North Londoners to agony land. Arsenal are now placed bottom of their group and six points behind Bayern and second-placed Olympiakos with two games remaining. Qualification now would be a miracle; if Bayern and Olympiakos share points in any of their coming games, Arsene Wenger would be facing his first group stage elimination in 13 seasons. Terrible times for the French man.
The other big game of the night saw Mourinho’s Army rescue maximum points from Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge. The winning goal came before the end, as potential player of the season Willian Borges delivered an amazing 25-yard free kick. Chelsea are now placed 2nd in Group G, three points behind leaders Porto, but with a two-point cushion on Dynamo Kiev.
Mourinho is undoubtedly the man of the Bridge. Mourinho emerged out of the tunnel to a crowd of Photographers; the Chelsea faithful thundered his name for 90minutes. The Manager came with his family for an unalloyed show of support. That would have been in vain but for the consistent heroics of Willian, the 27-year-old Brazilian has been Chelsea’s outstanding performer as he scored his 5th free kick of the season. Great stuff
