The Guardiola effect has certainly in full swing, the once forgotten Raheem Sterling has been awarded the Premier League’s player of the month gong for August. Sterling has been in Sterling form for the Etihad Army, scoring two league goals and claiming an assist during the first month of the season.
Sterling, who failed to justify his £49million price-tag during his first season at the Etihad, will be hoping to continue his improved form in September. The Manchester City and his club team-mates face a tough battle on Saturday as Guardiola’s side face United at Old Trafford.
Sterling, 21, was criticised for his performance at this summer’s European Championship in France but appears to have received a boost in confidence following Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola on Sterling’s development: “I did nothing, I try to do the best for all the players. Raz has scored two goals, that’s good but for me the games before were more brilliant”
