Everton’s boss is set to push through a £40million deal for the Giroud in the New Year after failing to land the forward he wanted to replace Romelu Lukaku
Ronald Koeman will return for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud – and this time he will get his man.
Everton’s boss is set to push through a £40million deal for the striker in the New Year after failing to land the forward he wanted to replace Romelu Lukaku.
The Dutchman has been coming under fire for his failure to sign a replacement for the Toffees’ leading scorer last term.
But appears that Koeman and his club were caught out by circumstances as much as anything as the deal collapsed during the final few days of the transfer window.
Giroud was understood to be keen on a move to Merseyside as he had not been guaranteed regular first-team football at the Emirates.
With the World Cup in Russia approaching fast and the striker currently being the fulcrum of an attack that boasts a galaxy of riches, the 30-year-old is keen to play regularly.
That was uppermost in his mind as speculation intensified that he might be on his way with West Ham rivalling Everton for the player.
