Chidimma Ikegwuonu, a graduate of Fine and Applied Art from the University of Benin is a painter who is passionate about football and art.
Speaking on how she started, she says, “Right from my childhood, I have been that child that imagines a lot. I create a lot of imagery, especially with whatever I see around me but my environment never supported art so I didn’t put much interest in art until my senior secondary school. I made a painting and one of my teachers called me privately and told me never to leave art and that was the insurgence of art in my life, I furthered it in university and specialized in painting.”
“I will call myself an expressionist, most times I express myself the way I feel, I also do realism. My medium is oil on canvas for painting and graphite pencil on emboss for portraits. Currently, I am using my talent to advocate for a peaceful election and also calling on youth to do same.”
Concerning inspiration, she mentioned Owowo Chimezie (a painter), who taught her skin colour.
