President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Nigeria from his medical leave in London early Friday morning but insists his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo will continue his role as Acting President.
Buhari made the announcement at his first meeting with his Cabinet and Service Chiefs at the First Lady’s Conference Room at the Presidential Villa Abuja. According to him, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo “will continue” in the role of acting president “and I will continue to rest”.
Aide to the president on digital communication, Tolu Ogunlesi said the president only “joked that he deliberately came back on a Friday so Osinbajo can continue working and he (PMB) can have a few more days to rest.”
Special adviser to Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina said the President is set to return to work on Monday.
“PMB will Monday transmit letter to National Assembly on his return to the country,” said Femi Adesina. “That makes his return to work formal, and constitutional.”
