World renowned media personality, Oprah Winfrey has opened up on one area of her personal life declaring she chose not to have kids because wouldn’t have been a patient mother and didn’t want the kids to suffer.
Oprah, 63, who is the founder of the South Africa-based Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, however said she has no regrets about not having kids as she is a mother mother figure for the 172 girls at the Academy.
“When people were pressuring me to get married and have children, I knew I was not going to be a person that ever regretted not having them, because I feel like I am a mother to the world’s children.
“Love knows no boundaries. It doesn’t matter if a child came from your womb or if you found that person at age two, 10 or 20.
“If the love is real, the caring is pure and it comes from a good space, it works.
“For me [the Leadership Academy] was perfect, because I didn’t want babies,” she said. “I don’t have the patience,” Oprah told Good Housekeeping U.K. in the magazine’s April issue.
The media mogul insists her decision was the best.
“If I had kids, my kids would hate me,” Winfrey told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview
“They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.”
