Kelechi Charles Nwaneri, also known as Kaecy Art, is a self a taught mixed media Artist and a graduate of the department of Agricultural extension, University of Nigeria.
Speaking about how he started, he says, “I made the decision to take up art as a career in 2013, while I was still in the University. Then I was inspired by Social Media artists and Art pages. I worked with only pencils because I didn’t understand paints, thus I was greatly inspired and influenced by Pencil Hyperrealists; Kelvin Okafor, Ken Nwadiogbu & Arinze Stanley.”
“I practice every day to improve and overtime I’ve been able to settle into a style of art (by the help of colleagues and critics) which I can call mine. Although I still have a long way to go, I don’t fail to realize how much I’ve improved as my work is now being appreciated by an audience I’ve long targeted.”
“Telling stories with pictures that are characterized by altering apparent realistic features and the presence of a figure embedded with motifs, my art talks about basic societal issues especially those affecting the youths.”
Kelechi’s art is inspired by the things that happen around him, by the beauty of nature and by the complexity and colourfulness in culture and variation.
