John Obi Mikel looks set for a January move to Ligue 1 side, Olympic Marseille, if the words of the coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is anything to go by.
The Super Eagles skipper, who hasn’t featured competitively at all under Blues boss, Antonio Conte is in ‘advanced talks’ with Marseille and would be allowed to depart Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.
With Chelsea on a high run this season in a bid to dominate English football, Italian manager Conte has stuck to the same starting 11 as many times as he could, limiting the chances of players like Mikel who have been waiting on the sidelines.
Rohr has now revealed that the midfielder sees Marseille as a ‘serious option’ and he will be ‘allowed to leave for free’.
“I saw him in London. He is in advanced discussions with Marseille,” Rohr told Europe 1
Could this be the end of Mikel’s 10-year spell at Stamford Bridge?
