Nigeria’s Olympic team coach, Samson Siasia has declared midfielder John Mikel Obi available for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, cooling fears that the Chelsea midfielder will miss the Games.
“Mikel has confirmed his availability,” said Coach Siasia.
“We have some other players who have promised to join us and they have shown commitment like Wilfred Ndidi, who has assured us that he will join us in America.
“Other players who will be available are goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Kenneth Omeruo. These are the players who are confirmed for now,” Siasia added.
Siasia would however be without the likes of Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, Watford striker Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City as the youngsters have been prevented from participating in the Games by their respective clubs.
