Salami Tosin Jubril, also known as Rick samtos, is a musician.
Speaking about how he started, he says, “I started music instrumentally in my primary school. I realised music was for me in secondary school, so, I performed in so many activities in the school, and I garnered enough fame in school.
“My first single titled, “One and Only” was released in 2016. Due to the reception, I worked harder to produce a typical afrobeats high life mixed with makosa titled “Oremeji.” At this stage, the few people the song could get to were amazed and some could not believe it was my song.
“Then I tried to switch up my sound to a trap sound titled “Lonely Boy.” The feedback I got made me realise my sound was getting better and it just motivates me to do better.
I draw inspiration from my role models in the music industry; Tuface and Wande Coal and Wizkid.”
Salami said that the reception he gets from his songs are what motivates him. Every time, the feedbacks kept getting better and more positive. That made him realise this was what he was meant to do. “I am driven to do better songs … I believe in myself that there is no limit to what I can achieve.”
Now, he is looking to get connected, get the best record deal and make his music everywhere, bringing more joy to Africa.
He believes youth empowerment is becoming a topic well-talked about now. “There are so many youth out there with talent, gift, that are hidden. More efforts need to be made to nurture these talented youths.”
