Marion Cotillard denies being responsible for Jolie and Pitt split

French actress Marion Cotillard has distanced herself from stories suggesting that a rumoured affair between her and Brad Pitt is the reason for the recent split Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

“This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago,” she said on an Instagram post late Wednesday.

“Many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting,” wrote the 40-year-old actress, who has been with her partner Guillaume Canet since 2007. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” she said.

“Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.

“And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.

Cotillard, who won an Academy Award in 2008 for her performance as the legendary French singer Edith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose,” stars with Pitt in the upcoming World War II romantic thriller “Allied.” Rumours of an affair with Pitt spread soon after entertainment website TMZ reported Tuesday that Pitt and Jolie were divorcing.

Cotillard added: “I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.”
