Osaze Amadasun, also known as Osaz, is an Illustrator and designer currently living and working in Lagos.
The graduate of Architecture with a Masters degree in Environmental Design offers works that takes a comical and satirical look at society, often political or historical.
“I have been an avid art lover as early as my primary school days, entering into several art competitions and participating in anything art related. I was always art inclined but it was mostly a hobby back then.”
“Going into the university, I decided to study Architecture (even though I really wanted to study Art).” “I was scared of the ‘starving & road side artist’ story so I chose the closest thing to Art which happened to be Architecture at that time.”
“These days, I’m into Art full-time. However, the knowledge gained during my 6 years in Architecture school didn’t go to waste, it has helped make me a lot more discerning as I carry out my projects.”
“Since then, I have explored different methods and techniques to express my art such as traditional painting, digital painting, sculpture, pencil work amongst others.”
“In recent times, I draw inspiration the diverse culture around me. I am interested in documenting and story-telling through my works centered around local content while blending in popular culture here and there.”
“I draw inspiration from my immediate environment, popular culture, fashion, music, nature, e.t.c to mention a few.”
“My art often portrays things happening in my immediate environment, from the culture, colours, slangs, e.t.c. The works take a comical and satirical look at society and are sometimes political or historical.”
