Samir Nasri has said that Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola banned every player from having sex after midnight, as a means of getting the best performances from them on the field.
Nasri, who is currently on-loan at Sevilla revealed that the ban imposed by Guardiola was one of the tactics employed by the manager to ensure the players stayed healthy
“Relations must be before midnight. Even if you have a free day the following day,” Nasri told French publication L’Equipe when asked for one of Guardiola’s secrets for getting the best out of his players
“It’s so you can have a good night’s sleep.
“He told us this is how he managed to get the best out of Messi and Lewandowski, and for them to avoid the maximum number of muscular injuries.”
Nasri who played only a few minutes under Guardiola before going out on loan says the former Bayern Munich manager has strict rules for diet too.
“He suppressed many things that were in the kitchen,” Nasri said.
The former Arsenal midfielder further described Guardiola as a ‘picky person’ as he described the manager’s eye for detail during training
“With Guardiola, on the first day of training, you know how you should play, how to squeeze and also how to stand off the ball. The next day, you have videos for everything that you have to do.
“He will not bully you, but he will do everything to make you progress, to get you to know you how to position yourself and how to play. He’s a picky person.”
Guardiola’s career at City seemed to be an instant success but with the current drop in form plaguing the Manchester club, is it time for Pep to rethink some of his restrictions?
