The Coalition on Good Governance and Change Initiative (CGGCI) on Monday urged the Attorney-General of the Federation to ensure the reversal of court order allowing the release of Shiite’s leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

The Coordinator of the group, Mr  Okpokwu Ogenyi, made the call at a news conference at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

He said that the judgment was against the sensibility of Nigerians.

Ogenyi also said the decision was not in the best interest of the country, adding that the judgment could have been bought.

“We are totally against this judgment delivered by Justice Gabriel Kolawole.

“The Shiite is a violent Islamic sect and the state should be allowed to deal with it at this formative stage.

“This is a sect whose members have killed our security forces before. They have also distabilised communities in Zaria for many years.

“It is surprising that justice Kolawole ordered that the Federal Government must provide a new accommodation for El-Zakzaky within 45 days.

“The annoying aspect too was that he ordered the payment of N50 million to them. This clearly shows that the judge is insensitive to the present economic recession.

“We are therefore calling on the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation to ensure this judgment is reversed.

“Nigeria is a secular state and no religious sect should be allowed again to take the country for a ride.”

Justice Gabrial Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Dec.2, ordered the unconditional release of El-Zakzaky and his wife, Malama Zeenatudeen from DSS detention.

Kolawole held that no extant law within the country’s statutory legal frameworks and charters subscribed to by the country had allowed anybody to be kept under protective custody unlawfully.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the decision followed a fundamental right enforcement suit filed by the Shiite’s leader.

Meanwhile, protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Cash and Carry Judiciary is Boko Haram’’, “Kolawole! Between Nigeria and Iran which is more important’’, “You cannot kill our Policemen, Soldiers and go scot-free’’ among others were at the venue of the coalition news conference.
