S.A.M, whose real name is Salami Ayomide Matthew is a Gospel Rapper and a student of Landmark University, studying Mechanical Engineering.
“Being an Engineer is my Ambition but my passion has always been music, mostly Rap. Whenever I get on stage to minister or to perform, I feel free, just knowing that at least one life will be touched excites me.”
Speaking on how he started, he has this to say. “I started rapping at the age of 9. I really didn’t put my mind to it. It was just something I enjoyed doing till I was 13, then I started working and actually rapping in front of audiences and small crowds. I moved on to writing my original verses and songs.”
“At first, they weren’t good at all but I kept practicing and pushing to get to where I am now. The first time I got on stage to minister, a guy met me afterwards and said he was blessed and touched. That was a major turning point; I started taking my music more serious.”
“I’m still learning and still have a long way to go. As a rapper, you must work on different aspects of yourself; your style, your rap voice, delivery, stage performance and so on.”
God, he says, inspires him.
