Alexandre Lacazette has revealed he will try and persuade Antoine Griezmann to join Arsenal next summer.
Griezmann, 26, came to close to joining Manchester United this summer before deciding to stay at Atletico Madrid after the La Liga club had their transfer ban upheld.
Close friends Lacazette and Griezmann spent a part of their summer holidaying together in America and the Arsenal striker has hinted he could lure his France teammate to the Emirates.
“Yeah [Griezmann is my best mate], we are very good friends and have lots of fun,” said Lacazette in an interview with Match of the Day magazine.
“Our nicknames for each other are Griezzy and Lacaz. If Griezzy visits me in London, I’m going to ask him to sign for Arsenal!”
Lacazette has hit the ground running since arriving at Arsenal in a club record £52m summer move from Lyon.
Earlier this season he became the first Arsenal player to score in his first three home league appearances for the club since Brian Marwood in 29 years.
Arsenal look set to lose star striker Alexis Sanchez at the end of the season with the Chilean yet to put to paper on a new contract.
The Gunners would face stiff competition for the Frenchman’s signature, with Manchester United likely to renew their interest in the 26-year-old next summer.
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville recently named Antoine Griezmann as the one player he would love to see at Manchester United.
“Having been in Spain for four months, I love Griezmann. I would love to see Griezmann at United. He’s quick, he’s inventive he can beat players he can score goals,” said Neville.
The former Real Sociedad striker recently renewed his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022 but the recent arrival of Diego Costa could make a summer move more possible for Griezmann.
