Three minutes before the classic Van Gaal ‘we are improving’ speech could happen, Charlie Austin intervened. Seven minutes into his Southampton debut, the English man rose to head Ronald Koeman’s side into an irrevocable lead, Austin was bought cheap from QPR at £4m, which I predict would turn out to be the bargain of the season owing to his style of play and stellar 10minutes display today… time would tell. Southampton definitely feels at home at old Trafford as they have now won in their last two visits, in those two games, united have only managed two shots on target. The Van Gaal era
Van Gaal’s dives to new low today
It was really a sorry sight at Old Trafford this evening as the fans jeered Van Gaal and his lads into the tunnel, United have won just one of their past five home games – and have failed to score in three of those, their first-half record in front of goal is even worse; they have now gone eight hours and 26 minutes without scoring in the first 45 minutes of games at Old Trafford- we all thought Moyes was the worst right?
The Dutch gaffer has said the supporters were right to boo him, and after today’s game he now has led United to their lowest point tally (37) after 23 games. Van Gaal had this to say-
“I had a feeling they could score only from a set-play. Our defence in set-plays was weaker because I changed Fellaini and had to change Darmian. Every change was a weakness in defence. I wanted to win this game and that’s why I changed Cameron Borthwick-Jackson for Adnan Januzaj. That is a risk you take, it was a poor game and we didn’t create so much and neither did our opponent.”
In my opinion, things could only get worse with LVG in charge.
