Italian league leaders Juventus made their way into the finals for the 2nd time in 3 years. Daniel Alves had a hand in all 4 of Juve’s goals over the two legs, 3 assists and a goal.

Juventus are in the ninth European Cup final of their history. All respect to Monaco but the outcome was never in doubt since the draws were made, Juve are a disciplined and experienced team and against the youth of Monaco there was only ever one winner.
Juventus had six attempts on target before the break and were able to score twice, and it was only a superb performance from Danijel Subasic in the Monaco goal that stopped the Italian giants making this an embarrassment.
Mandzukic scored the first, heading down from Dani Alves’ cross, he was denied by Subasic but able to pounce on the rebound.

The second Juventus goal came when Subasic managed to get a punched clearance on a corner that fell straight to Alves who struck his volley home first time. Halftime 2-0.

Monaco restored a bit of pride by pulling a goal back midway through the second period, Joao Moutinho’s low cross was bundled over the line by Mbappe. The teenagers 6th goal of the campaign.

Monaco tried hard to at least level the scores, but Juventus stood firm to close out the game. Full time 2-1
Buffon had this to say after the game:
“Everyone thought it was my last final two years ago – I thought it might be too but I never gave up hope because you have to keep believing in your dreams and in what you do right down to the very last day.

“I’m delighted because I’m going into it in good form, but of course I’d never have got another chance if I didn’t play for a great team and didn’t have my team-mates to help me.

“It’s actually happening now. It was no easy feat, mind, despite our 2-0 lead from the first leg.

“If we’d gone into the game and been cocky about it, we’d have had a really hard time.”

Juventus will have to wait till the other semifinal is concluded to know their opponents in the Cardiff finals. No matter who they face though, Juve will be ready to avenge their 2015 loss on the 3rd of June.
