Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday reassured Nigerians that he met with President Muhammadu Buhari and he was in good spirit and good health, adding that the president hopes to be back soon.
According to Daily Post, the Senate President made the reassurance while briefing the Senate on the recent trip by the leadership of the National Assembly to the UK, where they met with the president.
“Further to the correspondence from Mr. President, let me also use this opportunity to brief my colleagues on the visit I led a delegation of myself, the Honourable Speaker and the Majority Leader to visit Mr President Buhari on Wednesday 15th of February to convey the greetings and best wishes of the National Assembly and I am happy to report that we met the President in good spirit, in good health, chatty as usual and conveyed his best wishes and hopes to be back very soon”, Saraki remarked.
Recall that Buhari left the country on January 19, 2017 on a medical vacation to the United Kingdom. The media aide to the president, Femi Adesina announced subsequently that the vacation which as initially scheduled to last 10 days was to be extended indefinitely to “complete the test circle before returning.”
Adesina also announced yesterday that a series of medical tests showed that Buhari required more time to rest.
“During his normal annual checkups, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned,” Adesina said.
