Police in Brazil have captured a notorious drug lord who’s been on the run for 30 years, according to authorities he used plastic surgery as an evasive technique.
Luiz Carlos da Rocha is the leader of an expansive cocaine empire in South America. Nicknamed ‘White Head’, the Kingpin faces charges that combine collectively to 50-years of prison time.
Rocha was arrested in Sorriso, Mato Grosso, on Saturday and was described by police to have ‘lived in the shadows’.
He’d been living in the city with an adopted name Vitor Luiz de Moraes. But picture comparisons of his new looks to his old one had given him away.
The cartel led by Rocha produced cocaine in Bolivia, Peru, and Columbia and has shipped products to the United States and Europe.
Police believe his wealth to be around $100m and have made plans to seize all assets.
