Apprentice, Obinna Stephen, connives with herbalist to kidnap boss’ son


Stephen Obinna has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the kidnap of an 8-year-old son of his boss, Mr. Ezechiefor Chuks, who is a trader in electrical materials in Arakale Market, Akure, Ondo State.

According to The Punch, Stephen was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters in Akure along with three other suspects, among whom is a herbalist, identified as Eze Ifeanyi. Other two suspects are Joel Carol and Christopher Anthony.

After the abduction of the boy, the suspects reportedly demanded N50m ransom before they were arrested. The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hilda Harrison, said Stephen planned with other suspects to kidnap his boss’ son at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Akure.

According to the commissioner, the kidnap victim was rescued unhurt and united with his family. She said some “dangerous items” were recovered from the suspects, including one locally-made pistol, one berretta pistol, some live ammunition, and two live cartridges.
