Federation Cup winners Akwa United became champions of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League Super Four pre-season tournament held in Kaduna and Uyo. The Promise Keepers palyed a goalless draw with Glo Premier League champions Enyimba on Friday.

The first match of the day saw Nasarawa United lose by a lone goal to Warri Wolves, meaning that Akwa United only needed a draw while the People’s Elephants, Eyimba, needed a  victory to lift the trophy for the second time in three years.

Akwa finished the tournament with nine points and following their Federation Cup win last year, they have now won two trophies in succession.
