By Eki Ogunbor

Let’s be honest, the festive season doesn’t actually start in December. Some of us started counting down to Christmas this November. The decorations are out, the potential event outfits are either ready or being sewn (let’s hope that your tailor doesn’t disappoint you) BUT what events should you be looking forward to this season?
Well, my friend, that’s where I come in.

Although I’m quite the introvert, when it comes to December in Lagos is all about the events so I try my best to go out and experience all that Lagos has to offer this season.
In this article, I’ll be suggesting some events for you to note and/or attend this season with a few tips to help you make sure you have to safest fun experience. I’ve also categorised them into groups so feel free to go straight to whichever list applies best to you and what you love to do.

Dos and Don’ts
Do
– Purchase your tickets on time, not all shows sell tickets at the door. Try afritickets, ariiyatickets, nairabox, eventbrite and any other online ticketing platforms you might know.
– Arrive early, getting the best seats when you have a non designated ticket will make or break your concert/show experience.
– Arrange your essentials kit, a pack of pocket tissues, hand sanitiser/wipes, mini bottle of water, important medication (inhalers if you have asthma), your glasses (if you have 4 eyes), handkerchief face towel,
Careful with the drinks, you need to stay alert in case of an emergency and the restroom situation may not be conducive for use or available at the venue.
Keep safety cash somewhere creative other than your bag/wallet, try your socks, front pockets, hat etc
Don’t
Don’t take too many gadgets with you, your phone and a power bank should suffice.
Don’t go alone, it’s safer to go in a group
Don’t be careless, take a bag with a great closure (preferably a zip) and wear it cross body so it sits in front of you right where you can see it. Be vigilant!
Don’t watch the concert on your phone taking pictures, live in the moment and enjoy the show instead of taking incessant photos/videos.
Don’t yell too much so you don’t get a sore throat later.
Don’t leave your drinks unattended
Don’t get drunk

Hope my not so little list helps you have the best time in Lagos this December. Season’s greetings to you and yours!
